Varian 450 GC with FID and TSD detector
The 450-GC isVarian’s premier, top of the line gas chromatograph. It offers single, dual or triple channel configuration flexibility and automation for maximum productivity. The 450-GC is easily reconfigured/upgraded in the laboratory as analysis requirements can and do change.
FID
The flame ionization detector (FID) is the most sensitive gas chromatographic detector for hydrocarbons such as butane or hexane. With a linear range for 6or 7 orders of magnitude (10 6 to 10 7 ) and limits of detection in the low picogram or femtogram range, the FID is the gas chromatographic detector for volatile hydrocarbons and many carbon containing compounds
TSD
The Thermionic Specific Detector (TSD) is also known as Nitrogen Phosphorus Detector is a very sensitive but specific detector that responds almost exclusively to nitrogen and phosphorous compounds. It is based on the flame ionization detector but differs in that it contains arubidium silicate (glass) bead situated in a heater coil, a little distance from the hydrogen flame. If the detector is to respond to both nitrogen and phosphorous then the hydrogen flow should be minimal so that the gas does not ignite at the jet. If the detector is to respond to phosphorous only, a large flow of hydrogen is used which is burn at the jet.
This Varian 450 GC with FID and TCD detector is in a great shape.
