Puritan Bennett 740 Ventilator
AMERICA North (USA-Canada-Mexico)
The Puritan Bennett 740 Ventilator is a versatile mechanical ventilator which
can be used to provide respiratory support for pediatric to adult patients
for hospitals and remote facilities. Equipped with redundant systems,
innovative user interface and monitoring options,
and a high-performance gas delivery system,
the 740 Ventilator is ideally suited to provide ventilation support to critically ill patients.
The 740 Ventilator is provided with two independent microcontrollers wherein
one microcontroller is set to control the ventilation, and the other is dedicated
to the user interface adapted to monitor the ventilator and the patient data.
Each microcontroller independently verifies that the other system
is functioning properly to ensure that a single fault
doesn't cause simultaneous failure with respect to controlling
and monitoring functions.
The 740 is configured to supply mandatory or spontaneous breaths using
a piston-based pneumatic system.
The ventilator system is configured to control mandatory breaths
via a volume control ventilation (VCV).
The VCV delivers breath to the patient at a preset tidal volume, peak flow,
waveform, and oxygen concentration at a minimum respiratory rate.
This system of delivery improves patient comfort and safety.
