King KRA-10A Radar Altimeter System
AMERICA North (USA-Canada-Mexico)
The most popular low-cost radar altimeter we carry is the King KRA-10A, part of the Silver Crown series. This is a 3-piece system, with a KI-250 Indicator, a KRA-10A Receiver / Transmitter, and a KA-131 Antenna to mount on the belly of your aircraft. This system indicates your radar altitude AGL from 20 feet to 2,500 feet. The KRA-10A Receiver /Transmitter is an upgraded version of the original KRA-10. The KRA-10A adds the ability to connect to a "squat switch". When activated, this prevents the KRA-10A transmitting when on the ground. The KI-250 allows the pilot to set a Decision Height, in altitude AGL. Once you reach this altitude, a light illuminates and a tone sounds. (This is a very good safety aid and backup on an IMC approach.) There is also a self-test function. The KRA-10A system is designed for aircraft with a 28 volt electrical system. You can still use the KRA-10A in a 14 volt aircraft, but you will need a voltage converter, such as the King KA-133.
