King KRA-10 Radar Altimeter System
AMERICA North (USA-Canada-Mexico)
This is a 3-piece system, with a KI-250 Indicator, a KRA-10 Receiver / Transmitter, and a KA-131 Antenna to mount on the belly of your aircraft. This system indicates your radar altitude AGL from 20 feet to 2,500 feet. This system is significantly less expensive than the KRA-10A Radar Altimeter System. On the other hand, the KRA-10 Receiver / Transmitter lacks the newer KRA-10A's ability to connect to a "squat switch" to suppress ground operation. The KI-250 allows the pilot to set a Decision Height, in altitude AGL. Once you reach this altitude, a light illuminates and a tone sounds. (This is a very good safety aid and backup on an IMC approach.) There is also a self-test function. The KRA-10 system is designed for aircraft with a 28 volt electrical system. You can still use the KRA-10 in a 14 volt aircraft, but you will need a voltage converter, such as the King KA-133.
