Hammer Mill
EUROPE (Western and Northern)
This hammer mill is composed of a rotating rotor in which steel blocks
are installed that have a hole in one of their ends called hammers.
The rotor has several axes that are passed through the hammer holes.
The shaft is in what is called the cutting chamber.
In this chamber are installed reinforced plates where the material
is hit pushed by hammers.
When the rotor rotates, the hammers drive the material against these plates
and shatter it by impact.
The rotor of these mills usually rotates at high speeds of between 400
and 600 r.p.m. which produces enough force to chop
and crush the product achieving size reduction.
